Apple North Michigan Avenue – Day 178 /
Apple North Michigan Avenue 2003-2017
For fourteen years, Apple North Michigan Avenue has been the face and hands of Apple in Chicago. On June 27th, 2003, I and sixty-nine other colleagues opened North Michigan Avenue and has since been the subject of many photographs.
While some Apple locations are made from glass, metal, giant sliding glass doors, groves, have engineering marvels to keep cool or warm, or simply flashier, none have the classic appeal of 679 North Michigan Avenue that fit so well into the community. With its one-of-a-kind Apple-cutout window, nearly extinct Theater, green roof, and limestone facade, Apple North Michigan Avenue is the Temple of Apple; both ancient world style and modern architectural design.
It is most likely the last year for Apple North Michigan Avenue as a new Chicago River location nears completion but always will this building be a fond memory for me.
Happy Birthday, NMA.
